The Arts

Cultivating Creativity

Our commitment to the Arts is demonstrated through various co-curricular activities and opportunities as much as through curriculum subjects. These take place through our Academy of the Arts, which helps students to develop the disciplines required to work in performance settings. Students develop their creativity and talents, applying them in various productions and performances to provide real-life experiences.

Beginners Strings and Band Program

All students at Citipointe have the opportunity to learn an instrument in their formative years as part of our Beginner Band and String Programs. This takes place in Year 2 (all string instruments) and Year 4 (all brass, woodwind and percussion instruments).

Through this program, students not only learn to play several songs on their instrument, but they also develop their music theory skills, aural skills and rhythmic abilities. They learn how to play and perform as part of an ensemble, a skill that develops hand-eye coordination and develops social interaction.

Dance

Students have the opportunity to experience the excitement of rehearsing with other dancers who are committed to extending their dance technique, creative skills and performance level.

Performances are an integral part of Citipointe Dance, and all group members perform in a variety of community and school-based events. Citipointe Dance fosters a spirit of cooperation, self-discipline, self-respect and a sense of responsibility and helps to foster joy and a sense of accomplishment among participants.

NOVA

NOVA Arts is a gifted and talented program for Senior Secondary students at Citipointe who exhibit exceptional talent in the Arts.

Over three immersive years spanning Years 10, 11 and 12 NOVA offers students a transformative journey to hone their craft and explore their creative potential to the fullest.
Graduates of the program receive school certificates across specialist extension areas of the Arts. Through advanced studies in disciplines often inaccessible to the general student population in the Australian education system, NOVA students carve out a unique path to artistic excellence and distinction.

Musical

Citipointe musicals shine brightly on our College calendar, held biennially and fuelled by our passionate arts team and the Academy of the Arts.

Students dive into every aspect, from singing and dancing to acting, painting, building, and rehearsing, pouring their hearts into a year-long journey of creativity and dedication. With the support of 30 staff members and industry professionals, their hard work dazzles over 2,000 audience members across five unforgettable shows, showcasing their remarkable talents.
